Today's kids are incredible digital masters. They can do anything with computers. This is a form of abstraction. Life is getting more and more abstract. One of the biggest worries is that war will also become abstract. In fact, it already has. It's a frightening thought, but the chances of nuclear annihilation over the next hundred years is higher than we think. We really need to be training children or even adults to use their powers of abstraction in useful ways. I imagine a movie that combines the intellectual excitement of Coursera with a well-plotted thriller.
Imagine a guy who is brilliant at mathematics. He can analyse any situation in terms of mathematics. Every now and then, the film pauses and he turns to the audience and explains how he uses mathematics. We can see inside his head, where there are equations, geometrical shapes, topology. He then tells the audience that maybe they didn't get something. He gives them time to talk to each other, to explain what he just said. Or to look things up on the Internet. (Every audience member should have a laptop or smartphone). Then the story continues.
