Polyvagal theory may turn out to be a shortcut to the same effects achieved by lojong practice. They are both designed to deactivate our anger response by cultivating feelings of safety. Using slogans changes our behaviour by means of slower linguistic pathways. Perhaps those changes will prove longer lasting, because they are brought about over a long duration of time. It is low intensity practice. Polyvagal practices are direct and visceral, achieving short term but powerful effects.
