Really interesting science fiction novel. Centers the work of mothers and childcare. Uses Alien encounters as a metaphor for contact with cultures. Develops the idea of watersheds as a political entity equal to states and corporations. Uses networks as a collective deliberation space, a.k.a. Audrey Tang. States and corporations have become lesser powers.
The narrative breaks frequently for breastfeeding, childminding, etc.
At the end, aspects of nonviolent communication and sociocracy are used.
