*Robert Jackson Bennett* # Progressive Summary Murder mystery set in a fantasy world, where the Empire has to defend itself against giant titans called leviathans, which approach from the sea. The main characters are a detective duo with a similar dynamic to Sherlock Holmes and Watson. In this case, Din is the Watson character, and also the first-person narrator. It was a pretty fast read. While it was engaging, and the world building was interesting, I found it a bit thin at times. We learn about the world through the Din, who is an engraver, someone who is modified to have perfect memories, and yet seems to be discovering this world along with us, as if he was just popped down in the middle of it just for explication. # Definitions # Chapter Notes # Quotes # References
