## Chapter 1 - A Cacophany of Harmony
There are five basic types of bird vocalisations:
- Songs
- Companion calls
- Territorial aggression (often male to male)
- Adolescent begging
- Alarms
The first four form the baseline at any given time of day. Once we recognise the patterns, we can identify the disturbances. The baseline symphony is collaboratively created by all the animals and birds. It is "the intricately woven tapestry of the preferred status quo."
The first thing that happens is the dawn chorus, followed by the morning bustle.
