# Progressive Summary
This is a very clear and readable guide to the benefits of meditation. It is far too repetitive towards the end, but it contains some useful metaphors as guideposts.
# Key Points
Some key metaphors:
- Meditation as a plane taking off. Initially, there will be turbulence. But over time, the flight smoothens out and we can relax and enjoy the flight.
- Meditation as a highway. As long as we stay on the highway, we will reach enlightenment. The past and future are exits from the highway. As long as take them, we will not reach enlightenment.

Three things are needed for enlightenment:
- Meditation
- 3 Realisations
- That our true nature is the Pristine Mind
- That all thoughts and emotions are mental events
- That all mental events are illusions
- A Good Heart
- Love - the sincere wish for others to have happiness and the conditions necessary for complete and enduring happiness.
- Compassion - wanting others to suffer less
- Joy - being able to celebrate someone else's success
- Impartiality - wanting the happiness of all beings; not having any bias or prejudice
