5:00 - There's multiple Dunbar numbers, and the important point is that at different scales - 1, 2, 5, 15, 50, 150, 500 - humans form different organisms. Groups of different sizes are good for different things (the main insight of microsolidarity!)
6:30 - The way to have great organisations is to have lots of great teams. Bring one team of up to 5 people to a high level of safety, trust and courage. A team of 5 people can set the tone for a conference of 500 people, because they are broadcasting and modeling their vibe.
7:30 - Most potent transformations happen in small groups of 2-5.
8:15 - Any objective you want to achieve with a large organisation must first be proved with a small group.
9:00 - Our identity comes from doing things that are rhythmic, dependable encounters in our lives. It makes a difference whether we do something once in a while, or on a regular basis. Collective identity grows from rhythmic encounters.
Different kinds of rhythms - relational rhythms, planning rhythms, working rhythms, learning rhythms (the relational and learning rhythms being key)
11:00 - Takeaways:
- Meet in a small group for peer-support
- Do it for a time-limited commitment (avoid the problem of groups fading out and losing energy)
- Review and iterate with retrospectives
- Get 1 group humming, then recruit 3 more
