Eisenstein, Charles. _Sacred Economics: Money, Gift, & Society in the Age of Transition_. Berkeley, Calif.: Evolver Editions, 2011.
# Progressive Summary
# Key Points
Less and less of the world is sacred anymore. What defines the sacred? The sacred is anything that is unique and related. For instance, a forest is sacred. There is no other forest like it. And it is relational, because it depends for its existence on everything else around it.
We have stripped money of its sacredness, because one unit of money is the same as any other unit. It is also not related to anything. I have no idea where the dollar in my pocket has been. It is without context. Money is standardized, abstract and anonymous.
We have been gripped by the Story of Separation. We need to create a new story, the Story of Reunion.
